HOW KAGIO NEWS HELPED BRING MOSES KABAGE'S BODY HOME

In October 2023, Moses Kabage tragically died after falling from a building at a construction site in Ha Kairu, Ruiru. With no identification or family contacts, his body remained unclaimed at Thika Level 5 Hospital mortuary for weeks.

His colleagues shared only one clue that he often said he was from Kiaga village.

It was Tony Weru, a close friend of the late Moses who reached out to Kagio News. Even though we were still new and just beginning our work in the town, he asked for help in locating Moses’s family believing that this small growing platform could make a difference.

We answered that call.

Kagio News issued a public appeal urging the people of Kagio, Kiaga and the surrounding areas to help identify Moses. The community responded with open hearts sharing his photo, spreading the word and making inquiries.

But we didn’t just report the story.

Our team at Kagio News also took to the ground, going door to door in Kiaga, following leads, talking to residents and doing everything we could to help Tony find Moses’s family. It was journalism with purpose. Not just to inform, but to act.

And together, we succeeded.

The family of Moses Kabage was found. And later that year, he was laid to rest with the dignity he deserved. Not as an unknown worker in a faraway town, but as a son of Kiaga, buried in the soil he once called home.

Today, the story of Moses Kabage stands as the greatest memory in Kagio News' reporting journey. A powerful reminder that news is not just about headlines, but about heart, humanity and home.

To Tony Weru, to everyone who shared the post, made a call, or opened a door thank you. You helped write the most beautiful chapter in our news history so far.

Also, thank you for believing in us in giving news of Kagio town and the surrounding. We are just getting started.
