Sunday’s much-anticipated event for Baby Liam held at Gatunguru Grounds, Ithare-Gichugu unfolded as a beautiful show of unity, heart and community power. The atmosphere was electric, not with politics or pomp but with purpose.
The gathering brought together Gen Zs, Bikers and local well-wishers from across Kirinyaga all standing with one voice in support of Baby Liam, a young child from Gichugu battling severe breathing complications that require constant medical attention.
The event went on smoothly and successfully just as planned and served as a bold reminder of what can happen when a community comes together not just to talk, but to act.
A Mother's Cry Answered
Liam’s mother currently unemployed, shared her heartfelt thanks with those gathered. In addition to seeking support for Liam’s ongoing treatment including medications, inhalers and follow-ups. She expressed her hope for empowerment to start a small business that could help sustain her and her son.
Her message was met with applause and visible emotion, especially from younger attendees, many of whom resonated with the struggles of growing up in uncertain economic conditions.
Leaders in Solidarity
The event was graced by several notable figures and representatives, including:
- Shujaa Rose, a powerful voice for the community empowerment

Their presence sent a strong message that leadership isn’t about titles, but about standing with the people when it matters most.
A Generation That Cares
The biggest impact of the day however, came from the ground up. Gen Zs often stereotyped as detached or digital-only, showed up in real life with unmatched energy and empathy. The Nduthi culture of Kagumo, Mwea, Kerugoya and other towns, known for their hustle and unity were present in full force using their visibility to highlight a cause that goes beyond trends.
From heartfelt speeches to spontaneous fundraising pledges and from dance performances to moments of prayer, the day blended activism, culture and compassion.
What’s Next?
Organisers confirmed that the funds raised will go directly toward Baby Liam’s ongoing treatment and supporting his mother’s journey to self-reliance. Additional follow-up efforts are expected, with more community-driven activities lined up in coming weeks.
This event wasn’t just about Liam, it became a symbol of what Kirinyaga stands for: resilience, unity and action.
